Best Critical Illness Insurance for Parents (F58 non-smoker, M56 smoker) ₱1M coverage each — cheapest option?
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for advice on critical illness insurance in the Philippines for my parents:
Female, 58 (non-smoker)
Male, 56 (smoker)
Main goal:
- ₱1M face amount each
- Lowest possible annual premium
- Preferably non-VUL / traditional protection-only plan if it’s cheaper
- Focus on major illnesses (cancer, stroke, heart attack, etc.)
They already have an HMO (Medicard ₱150K coverage), so this is just additional protection for major illnesses.
I’ve checked AIA / AXA / Sun Life but pricing seems to vary a lot depending on agent and underwriting (especially for smokers).
So I’d like to ask:
- Which company currently offers the best value for this age range?
- Any idea of realistic annual premiums for ₱1M coverage at ages 56–58 (especially with smoker loading)?
- Any experience with claims or approval issues for older applicants?
Any input would really help. Thanks!☺️🙏
