Hi everyone,

My dermatologist in London (dr Kravees) diagnosed me with Lichen sclerosus a little over a year ago. I initially did a course of Clobetasol, and afterward we switched to a less potent steroid that I now use occasionally for maintenance.

At my last check-up, he said there was still some inflammation present and suggested circumcision as a definitive solution.

What I’m struggling to understand is whether that’s really necessary in my case. My LS only affects the glans — my foreskin looks completely healthy, I have no issues retracting it, no pain during sex, and honestly no real symptoms apart from a few small white patches on the glans that have mostly faded over time, especially when using clobetasol.

Has anyone here been in a similar situation where LS was limited to the glans without foreskin involvement? Did you still end up needing circumcision, or were you able to manage it medically long term?

I’ll go through with it if it’s genuinely the best option, but since I’m mostly symptom-free, surgery feels like a big step and I’m anxious about whether it’s necessary.

thanks
