I guess this is a semi-academic question for my Brazilians that have made a committed effort at learning Spanish for a few years As well as Hispanic lusophiles. I’ve been learning both for about 7 years so Not a value judgement but it seems to me like Spanish as a more concise lexicon than Portuguese. it also seems like both have less neologisms than English. Or an alternative framing could be that English is just a very unnecessarily copious language lol. Do you find your self hindered when translating into Spanish and trying to express you ideas? But it seems like there are more unique words in Portuguese. Do you have a similar observation or disagree? Wikipedia says they share 90% lexical similarity if I was guessing i’d bet the suprlus 10% were Portuguese words.
