Collision shop negligence fix
Hey Autobody community,
My car was hit in a parking lot and I took it to a collision shop (nearly 5 stars) to get two panels repainted. The rear quarter panel and door. Had to bring it back once already because the first job was bad. Got it back a second time and the paint is only 2 weeks into curing.
The shop said they wet sanded and buffed. Under harsh light there are heavy swirl marks and a few random scratches that appear to be from contaminated sandpaper during their wet sand process. The paint feels smooth and looks great in normal daylight, but up close under light it’s clearly a sloppy buff job. Also, whenever I take my fingernail to the paint, it immediately gets scratched. I assume this is because the paint is extra soft during the curing phase, but wasn’t sure.
My questions:
- Is this fixable with paint correction?
- Should I go back to the shop a third time or just take it to a professional detailer?
- Should I wait after the paint cures to fix this?
Really unfortunate because this car means a lot to me. Photos attached. I know this is a long post, but any advice is genuinely appreciated.
