I'm currently researching microphones for a sound system for a vocal group. The group would have a maximum of 18 members which is something I want to be prepared for, but we'll probably start with just 16. Now, if we opted to just use wired mics, I could just get 16 SM58's and call it a day. However, there is sometimes choreography involved, so having a wireless system would be quite nice if possible.
The problem is the pricing I've seen is both wildly inconsistent and extremely expensive. It's very common for me to see bundles with just 4 microphones that cost several thousand dollars.
You can be brutally honest with me; is this just the cost of wireless sound? I'm not looking for anything crazy fancy, just something that will get the job done at a decent price. But $700+ per microphone is unfortunately not something in our budget.
