I’d like to stop Firefox from asking for the master password whenever I visit a website. I want it to appear only when I actually need to enter a saved password, like when opening about:logins or manually triggering autofill.

If I understand correctly, Firefox currently prompts for the master password as soon as any site tries to access stored login data. But what I want is for the passwords to stay protected until the moment I choose to use them — without the prompt interrupting normal browsing.

Is there any way to configure Firefox to behave like this without disabling the master password entirely? Or is this just a built‑in limitation of how Firefox handles password access?
