I have a lovely 11 month old kitten. Calm temperament. Very loving. Adapted well to the environment. We love having him. The only issue is sometimes (more often recently) he steps in his poop while using the litter tray. I can always hear him going crazy in there digging in the litter. Then he tracks it around my house. Sometimes can get to him before he does but in the last 3 days i've had to vigorously mop and clean the carpets and change bedding because he launches out of the litter box and jumps all over the place. He doesn't seem to notice or be bothered by the litter covered poop on his paws. His litter box is large, enclosed and use wooden clumping granule litter. I clean the litter tray after every poop. And I have a litter mat, albeit a rather small one. I've tried taking the lid off his litter box, no change. I've tried using a different style and size litter tray which hasn't helped. I've also tried to manually show him how to gently cover his poop with his paws.

I've also been to the vet who said he would grow out of it but wondering if there is anything else I can do to help.

Any advice or tips to help avoid poopy paws and constant vigorous cleaning? I am disabled and it's quite difficult to keep deep cleaning poop off of everything.
