This Game Rules

My god, it's so nice to come back to after feeling overwhelmed with Elden Ring. That game is very good, but I think the scope is just too big.

I can't get enough of this claustrophobic-ass environment, and all the tunnels and tucked away rooms with treasure that is actually worth finding! All the amazing views that show places you will eventually get to. They have never fully recaptured this.

I love the clunky combat, the poise system that actually adds a lot of thought to armor choices, shields that are actually defensive, and all of the unique NPCs.

It feels like I know every single thing about the lore of this game, yet I still enjoy every item placement and thinking of how it got there - they really barely have anything that doesn't make some kind of logical sense in this game.

Oh and best of all - I MISS COVENANTS. They add so much to the role playing, and just having them gone in ER is a huge L. Bring them back Miyazaki, please!

What a masterpiece.

Future of Invasions?

Playing Dark Souls Remastered again, and I realized something. Invasions and the online aspect of these games are just so much better in 1v1 fights.

There's more online players than I expected there to be, so I've been doing some invasions and hanging in the forest. Oh my god like 99% of Invasions are just 1 solo player now. I've had so many nice chill 1v1s or Invasions where it actually felt like I was hunting them, rather than the other way around.

I hope in future games they go away from this queue system of prioritizing invaders to worlds with multiple phantoms. Players figure out the system and abuse it no matter what. It just makes cheezy invaders become hosts and phantoms, instead abusing 2 and 3v1 situations.

I hope that, except for 1-2 specialized areas, that Invasions are only possible for solo worlds. Let co-op users have fun - no need to punish them. And take away the meat grinder pvp that we've seen for like 3 games now.
