I just started cleaning my new house’s basement and found piles of what seemed like very fine sand along the edge where the floor and wall meet.

I’m semi familiar with efflorescence, but i’ve never seen piles like that before so just wondering if anyone else has ran into it.

Previous owners painted over some cinder blocks with a moisture sealant, and these piles only appear where the blocks weren’t painted.

I’ve bought some dehumidifiers so hopefully this area will stay dry from now on.
