Hey everyone,

I’m new to Shelly and smart homes in general, and I’m about to rebuild my house (keeping only the outer walls). I want to do things right from the start—especially the electrical plan—so I don’t end up reopening walls later.

The idea is to use Shelly for automation (lighting, dimming, etc.), but I don’t want to go overboard and build something overly complex or hard to maintain.

The house will have a garage, underfloor heating, and an LG aerothermal system. What I’m sure I want to automate:

Heating control

Window blinds

Light dimming

Garage door

Ability to cut power to outlets (small kids)

From what I understand, Shelly is strong because you can install small relays behind switches and keep your existing wiring while adding automation . It also works locally and integrates with other systems if needed .

My main questions:

What’s actually worth automating vs. what’s just overkill?

What devices/setup are considered “must-have”?

What plays nicely together (Shelly + other systems)?

Does it make more sense to centralize everything in a rack (DIN rail), or distribute modules behind switches/outlets?

If there’s a solid guide, checklist, or “wish I knew this before building” resource, I’d really appreciate it.

Thx in advance

Edit: I am in Spain
