Med calls and bodycams

Hi all, I work for a small agency where our officers are trained as EMR's and are dispatched to all med calls and expected to take medical action before higher trained EMS arrive on scene.

My question is regarding bodycam usage. I've been told we shouldn't be turning them on for the calls "because of HIPAA" without any further explanation. To me, it seems like that could become a liability issue (not showing you actually provided appropriate care etc., as well as making it harder to verify and document facts pertaining to the call in the report if there's no video to review).

What are your thoughts on this? Thank you.

Edit: Thank you for the feedback all. Most have echoed what my intuition was telling me on this. I've rechecked our policies and saw nothing stating any shall or shall not's regarding this. Now where to go from here without appearing to be insubordinate...
