Non-profit volunteer experience
I'm a newbie here, but I wanted to get your take on how to incorporate my non-profit experience into my resume and boost my career potential. To make a long story short, I work in mortgage finance and I would like to work towards an upper management role. I never thought about using my volunteer experience, but then I realized that the work that we do is objectively significant. I currently work with 2 non-profits. Both of these are volunteer positions, but we are working on multi-million dollar projects and we have done some really impactful things on humanitarian front. I also feel that this work is way more important than the job that actually earns me money. I am one of 5 co-directors in one of the orgs and a VP on the other (yes, there are non-profits where everyone is a volunteer and all funds go toward charity work). I got into into it to help people, so I never thought about using these positions for self-promotion. However, increasing my earning potential will in turn help me quite a bit in these volunteer roles. Should I use this experience for this purpose? How do I incorporate it into my resume?
