Diarrhea lasting 3 weeks
Our 2.5 year old retriever has been having diarrhea for 3 weeks now and we’re at a loss. We’ve been to the vet twice. The first time they gave us metronidazole for the diarrhea and cerenia for nausea (he was throwing up before but not anymore) meds but that hasn’t resolved it. The second time was just a couple days ago and prescribed tylosin but he’s not eating his food with it on it. He has been extra lethargic since it all started. He was tested for giardia and pancreatitis that were both negative. He’s on simparica trio and eats purina pro plan sensitive stomach (salmon). We also tried chicken and rice for 3 days and fortiflora extra strength, both with no improvement.
It’s worth noting that he’s had separation anxiety essentially his whole life and is on fluoxetine and clonidine. He’s had soft poops for a long time and we think it’s from the fluoxetine but we haven’t changed anything and the diarrhea started out of nowhere.
He’s been waking us up multiple times a night for weeks so we’re trying to resolve this asap! Thanks in advance.
