If This Had Happened to a VIP, Action Would Have Started Immediately
My name is Harsh Rishi. On May 4, 2026, at approximately 3:40 PM, while travelling through Delhi Metro, my mobile phone was stolen at Rajiv Chowk Metro Station.
The stolen device is an iPhone 17 Pro worth approximately ₹1,35,000.
After connecting my smartwatch to the internet, the phone’s location was detected through Apple’s Find My network near Connaught Place, close to Palika Bazar. The incident was later reported to police personnel at Rajiv Chowk Metro Station.
On May 4, 2026, I registered an online stolen mobile complaint, and on May 5, 2026, I successfully filed the eFIR after facing technical issues on the Delhi Police portal. During that time, the updated location of my phone was showing Kabir Nagar, Babarpur, Delhi.
On May 7, 2026, I received a call from the Investigation Officer assigned to my case. On May 8, 2026, I met him at Rajiv Chowk Metro Station, where CCTV footage was checked. However, due to overcrowding and the distance of the camera from my position, no clear identification could be made from the footage.
The Investigation Officer remained cooperative and coordinated with me properly throughout the process. On May 9, 2026, at around 7:00 PM, the location of my phone was updated again on my Apple Watch, this time showing Gaffar Market, Karol Bagh. I immediately informed the Investigation Officer and requested him to visit that location and conduct some investigation, as we might get a clue regarding the stolen device.
On May 10, 2026, we went together to the indicated area in Gaffar Market. We checked the shop where the precise location was being shown in the Find My app, but the shopkeeper denied having any information regarding the device and claimed that no iPhone had come to his shop since the previous day.
The location updated on my Apple Watch was the real-time location of the stolen phone at that moment through Apple’s Find My network. I strongly believe that checking the CCTV footage of that shop and the nearby shops around the indicated location may help identify the person carrying or handling the device.
As of May 14, 2026, ten days have passed and there is still no recovery or concrete progress despite multiple location updates and immediate cooperation from my side at every stage.
This is not just about one expensive phone. Thousands of people lose their mobile phones in public places every year, and most cases slowly disappear without proper investigation. If such cases are handled seriously with proper coordination and team-level action, especially in locations like Gaffar Market where stolen devices are often circulated, many victims can get justice.
Apple’s Find My system is already assisting the investigation by providing updated locations, but a single Investigation Officer cannot realistically search and verify such a large market area alone. A coordinated team effort, including proper CCTV checks around the indicated location, can make a significant difference and may help identify the people involved.
I sincerely hope this matter is taken seriously and proper action is initiated at the earliest. I also request everyone reading this to spread this message as much as possible so that attention can be brought to the growing issue of mobile theft and the need for stronger action in such cases.
