Alguien más ha notado este tipo de falacia?

Hi, this would be my second time posting. For quick context, I'm a young Jehovah's Witness who's in this religion more out of obligation than desire. But getting to the important point, I've noticed that Jehovah's Witnesses only quote prominent figures in the scientific community when it suits them. If a mathematician, scientist, paleontologist, astronomer, or anyone else is in favor of God's existence, they use that person's words as evidence for God's existence. But if another mathematician, scientist, paleontologist, astronomer, or anyone else says there's no proof of God's existence, they ignore it. I mean, anyone who dedicates their life to knowledge can believe whatever they want, but I find it curious how they use this kind of strange confirmation fallacy, or whatever it is.
