[MA] how long should I wait? (Post 2.0)

UPDATE BELOW ⬇️

Original post: (Posted 7th May) I had a second and final interview at a mid sized law firm for a staff position and it went REALLY WELL To the point the interviewer was explaining who I’d be working with closely and how it would go in extreme detail.

It’s been over 24 hours since that interview. And at the end of it the interviewer said I would hear back shortly from the first interviewer or herself. She was enthusiastic and smiling.

I’m getting anxious cause the interview went really well but I haven’t heard back yet. What does “shortly mean” 😭 how long do I have to wait before I get the job offer?? Help pls

Update : I followed up on May 11th asking for an update and they replied that they’re still in the interview process and would reach out to me by the end of this week (Friday May 15th) to discuss the status of my application.

What does this mean? Do mid sized law firms have to conduct a set number of interviews before they extend a job offer for HR requirements? I’m trying to read between the lines here. Why are they still keeping me in the loop? Does this mean I’m a top contender with someone else or something else?

Your comments and help is much appreciated ❤️❤️

Hi all, quick question- Are these good signs after an interview? (45 mins, detailed convo)

I had an interview recently that lasted about 45 minutes, and I’m trying to figure out how to read it. It was for the position of a legal assistant at a mid sized law firm in Boston.

The interviewer asked a lot of questions and really tried to understand my background in detail. When I asked about the firm’s culture, she gave a pretty thorough explanation. She also made an effort to pronounce my name correctly so she could share it with the team, which I thought was thoughtful.

Toward the end, she explained how the next round of interviews would work and mentioned I should hear back within 1–2 weeks. But mentioned there are other people interviewing and once that’s concluded I will hear back about the next steps of the interview.

Also, she was talking as if I already work there: “you would be working with X number of attorneys, handling this that, etc.” She asked follow up questions to my answers.

Overall, it felt like a good conversation, but I know that doesn’t always mean much. Do these sound like positive signs, or am I reading too much into it?

Location: Boston, MA, USA

Edit: would really appreciate if you all can comment and give your insights. I’m so anxious about this.
