Hello! We are looking for some advice. We purchased a home in Massachusetts at the beginning of this year, and we noticed a groundhog going in and out from underneath our front porch steps. The front porch stairs were an add-on at some point in the last few years. We removed the trellis and looked with a flashlight and found a large hole in the dirt right up against the foundation of the house. My boyfriend is freaking out, and he is extremely worried about the foundation being ruined. What is the best course of action for this? We also do not want to kill or harm the groundhog, so we would like to try to scare it away without trapping it (we googled, and the laws for MA say that captured groundhogs cannot be relocated, so it would be euthanized). Any advice on who to call to assess the burrow/fill it in would be immensely appreciated. We have some ideas on how to scare the groundhog away, but our main concern is the damage under the house. Any advice is appreciated!! Who do we call??
