So just to preface I’ve just gotten back into writing after yeeeears of not doing it so I totally get that practice is essential! I’m also a big reader, and I read anything and everything.

Recently I’ve just been feeling like my writing is a bit too literal.. I’m not sure how to describe it but it’s like the scenes are playing out in my head like a movie and I end up just writing “what I see”. I’m finding it quite hard to get into the flow and describe things a bit more poetically (not too much though obviously) and when I read old writing back I feel like I used to do this so well, so was wondering what kind of things people do to help with this?
