Recently completed energization of a setup involving:
- 8 MVA Power Transformer (66/11 kV, ONAN/ONAF)
- 8 MVA Inverter Duty Transformer (11/0.8–0.8 kV)
Both are oil-filled and used in an industrial + utility-side application.
A few things that stood out during execution:
- Inverter duty side needed careful handling of harmonics and thermal behavior
- Insulation reliability becomes critical for long-term performance
- Core loss optimization still plays a big role even in such setups
- Short-circuit withstand considerations during design were important
System has been running stable post-charging so far.
Curious from others working in similar environments:
- What are the most common issues you’ve seen in inverter duty transformers over time?
Especially under variable load conditions (like solar or industrial applications)
