I am new to gouache, and sort of new to painting too. I didn't know which set of paints to buy, but YouTube made me believe that smaller is better. So I went with the Holbein Primary set as it is inexpensive. I felt defeated when I got the paint because how am I going to mix any colours? I don't know anything about mixing. But then I found something on YouTube that showed how to get 99 colours out of 3 colours. So I did what they did and now I have a colour wheel and my understanding of mixing has grown. Next I'll fill the page with the complimentary colours mixes, but that will have to wait until tomorrow.
I'm happy I did this, it felt intimidatimg at the start, but I'm now already confident that I'll be able to mix every colour.
I'm still figuring out the right consistency for the paint, but I assume that it will become natural over time.
Does anyone know how to keep my white white? Is the only way to wash my brush every time before touching white?
