I recently read Jonas Karlsson’s novels/novellas: The Room, The Circus, and the Invoice and I fell in love with his writing style and the topics he chooses to write about.
Has anyone read these books and found any other books similar to his?

I’m looking for suggestions for a book to kick off a book club I’m starting with friends. I asked them about genres they prefer and the highest rated in order were:
I thought of I Who Have Never Known Men, however I and half of our book club have already read it.
I’m also considering The Wall, but I worry it’s too similar to IWHEKM.
This group is also less interested in fantasy/sci-fi focused books. There can definitely be elements of that but if the world building is too intense it’s probably too much for this group.
Would love any suggestions! Thanks in advance!
Edit: need a short book under 300 pages if at all possible.
