I got my Ally X on Thursday and it’s roughly what I expected from a handheld that’s basically forcing the Xbox app to load first when Windows boots.
And of course, that means anything other than a seamless experience - but one I of course expected.
My biggest issue is Gamepass, which allows me to install games but then asks me to purchase them when I try to play. The same games on my gaming PC work fine.
Modern Warfare campaign works, Modern Warfare 2 campaign doesn’t. Neither does Doom Eternal campaign even though I’ve got all the downloadable packs installed.
So far, I’ve tried:
- Ensuring Xbox app and MS Store are using the same account (they are)
- Logging out/in to Xbox app and MS store
- Reinstalling the games
- Ensuring Windows is automatically setting the time and time zone (tried toggling it)
- Tried the repair tool under the Support section of the Xbox app
- Tried resting the Xbox app under app settings
- Reset device back to factory settings and set it up again
- Tried WiFi and Ethernet connection
- Rebooted router
- Tried downloading from MS store rather than the box app
In short, I’ve tried everything but have a device that simply won’t do what it was designed and sold to do. I’ve spent 10 times longer fiddling and testing than I have playing which is annoying.
I’ve read umpteen threads and posts about others with similar issues but none of the troubleshooting seems to work.
I wondered if I’m on my own with this one, or if other owners have similar headaches?
Thanks 🙂
