Our apartment mail room has 5 additional boxes with lock keys that only the mail carrier can unlock so if you receive a package too big for your post box, they can put it in one of the 5 boxes and leave the key in your mailbox.

Today when I checked the mail, the key to box #3 was in my mailbox but when I opened it, there was no package? Nothing was in there.

Am I missing something? I feel so confused.

For context, I am not expecting any shipments. I guess I am wondering if I received something from a friend/family member and maybe my mail carrier marked it as delivered but then took my package?
