What to do when you have a format that you're using with good engagement but in between you have an upload that just underperforms?

I'm trying different kinds of shorts to promote the songwriting and producing I do as a hobby. I tried all kinds of things, never had a great hit but I had some decent views around 1/2k which is enough for me to keep going.

Now I did a format and tested it extensively, keep the face visible, hiding it, zooming, etc. I got some traction with one format zo I tried copying it. It seemed to work but now I posted and got very low stayed to watch rate. I didn't really change antything drastic.

Should I slighty edit and repost to check if the format holds and this was just an anomaly or should I just move on to the next (I often move on)

Just trying to get some perspective on what people usually do.

I've been grinding on a few tracks for the past year and finally decided to stop tweaking and just release one... Did everything myself (including mixing and mastering) with the sole purpose of differentiating from the standard overly-polished track of which we have enough today. I really wanted to go to my first musical love and that's 2000s rock vibes. Plenty of influences to pick from but Placebo, Incubus, Finch and (OG) Soulwax are definitely high on the list.

It's not my first release but it's very much a new angle for me so I'm eager to hear what you think and if you hate it, I' d love to know why so I can improve the next release. 😅
