I’ve been noticing this pattern a lot and it honestly confuses me. People say they want someone who checks in on them, supports them, pampers them, and genuinely cares. But the moment someone actually starts doing all that ,they either take it for granted or start acting distant like it’s too much.
It’s like effort is only valued when it’s rare or inconsistent. If you’re consistently kind and present, suddenly it becomes “normal” and unappreciated—or worse, people start assuming you’ll always be there no matter how they act.
And the strange part is, the same people often end up saying they wish they had someone who truly cared about them.
Is it just me, or are people uncomfortable with real, healthy affection?
Or is this more about giving too much to the wrong people?
Curious to hear others’ experiences.
