Hi all,

I know this is a dumb question but I'm trying to understand differences between:

- 2.5k photographer vs 5k+ photographer vs 5k photographer+videographer

Is it just a matter of looking at their portfolio and meeting them for a vibe check and don't worry about FOMO?

We found a photographer we quite like but he is right at the top of our budget. We budgeted 5.2k and he would be min 5.5k to 5.9k w/ second photographer (or over 7k if we get the wedding album which I dont see us doing given budget).

And honestly we are going into this pretty blind - I pretty randomly chose that 5.2k budget based on an instagram photographer's prices and that number stuck in our budget. We dont actually know whats a decent budget amount.

If anyone has any advice about less expensive vs more expensive vs combo photo/video I'm super keen to hear from you! In a perfect would we would have both photos and videos because I have the memory of a gold fish and I am terrified of forgetting everything. We were/are planning on maybe a tripod for the ceremony and a friend filming speeches so that I have those core moments recorded.

But maybe it would be totally wonderful with a less expensive photographer so we can maybe find a full videographer too?

We are in Melbourne.

Thank you all and I hope you are all enjoying your planning! <3 <3
