LAS Expansion Speculation

LAS Expansion Speculation

Happy May everyone! As summer begins to kick down our doors without asking first, your local coheart from the Mojave Desert has begun speculating some more recent information.

You may have heard from news sources Such as this one that SWA LAS is in the process of a 10 month long expansion. It all started with the addition of Santa Rosa/Sonoma County last month and now we have our summer seasonal service to Anchorage, Alaska right around the corner. No seriously it starts Friday. Let’s not forget the International service we’ve got lined up for June. (Side Note: Las Vegas to Puerto Vallarta has now been postponed to October. Cited reason is “civil unrest”, but I think it might be more than just that. Company has not disclosed anything further.)

It seems the news outlets also got some information about the January-March 2027 extension which has not been released yet. That’s not to say the 4 cities to the east are not happening. They’re more than likely going to happen and I just want to use this post to make a prediction on what their frequencies might start out as so here we go.

Attention! The following information is speculation/ predictions and should NOT be taken as factual information.

Boston, MA

Based on routes we’ve had to the New England region in recent years, this is either once daily or weekends only. There is no in between.

Philadelphia, PA

Assuming we’re following the same plan as Pittsburgh here, it’s likely going once on weekdays and twice on weekends. Otherwise it’ll just be once daily.

Miami, FL

With Miami being a small station for us, best case scenario is once daily. Worst case scenario is one flight on Sunday.

Knoxville, TN

Kinda saw this one coming when we first opened TYS. It was only a matter of time before we started service it. This’ll easily be once or twice daily.

The other special livery unveiled today. The same Stars and Stripes design featured on Freedom One, now on an ETOPS equipped Max-8. The sister plane to N500WR will be able to cross the Pacific to visit our friends on Islands of Hawaii and so much more. This plane was given a different name to avoid confusion with the other as the 800 is expected to remain in the fleet for at least a couple more years.

Aside from the unique Tail Number, I’ve noticed two details with this special livery our other special liveries don’t seem to have.

  1. The big one being the tail itself swapping the Blue, Red, and Yellow of the company colors for the consistent and patriotic Red, White, and Blue.

  2. Aside from the retro liveries, this is only special livery with a unique winglet design. You know instead of the dull grey the rest of the special liveries have.
