Looking for some guidance on what to book in advance and what I can have flexibility and just show up. We are 6 people, 3 kids, 2 adults, 1 senior.
Arrive Venice July 29 6 PM - Take bus to Venice and then People Mover to hotel (Hampton By Hilton Venice). Eat at the hotel, doesn't seem like a lot of restaurants in that area and sleep, likely jet lagged and tired. Is it better to just prebook a water taxi?
July 30 - Buy the 48 hour water bus pass. Basilica Santa Maria della Salute, St Marks Square, St Marks Basilica, Doge Palace. Plan is arrive at St Marks square later in the afternoon to hope the crowds die down a little after the cruisers leave. I plan to buy the museum pass since it's a little more expensive then Doge's and can hit some museums in the morning if there is nothing else. I believe the museum pass gives skip the line and I need to pre-book St Marks Basilica tickets.
July 31 - Burano / Murano. See the museums there.
Aug 1 - Wander around slowly in the morning, maybe go to a museum or something. Grab lunch and then grab luggage and take the train to Ravenna. Drop off luggage at hotel (Hotel Astoria) At Ravenna, buy the 5 site pass. They are all close by, maybe see one then have dinner.
Aug 2 - See the other missed sites. Taxi to our cruise at 1 PM.
Questions:
Do I need to prebook anything with Ravenna. I believe the 5 site pass gives skip the line and hopefully it's not too busy
The train to Ravenna, I wasn't planning to buy in advance. I don't imagine it's too busy.
Booking a water taxi or is bus / people mover really easy to get around
Worth it to get the water bus pass? I figure if I'm doing Burano / Murano, it just makes sense.
Is the museum pass worth it in Venice? It includes Doge's palace and wasn't much more than just paying for that entrance fee.
Thanks in advance!
