I’ve recently been researching some obscure 60s/70s soul and rock artists, and something I keep thinking about is how many musicians had real talent, recorded good music, worked with respected labels/producers, but never really broke through commercially.

Decades later, there is sometimes almost nothing left about them online, except for some discography, or a few comments from people who remember them. Why do you think this happens?
