I know we’re all full despair, but remember that lottery reform will help us
I think it’s been clear that ownership is done tanking after this year and broadly wants to be competitive. The trade with Houston + lottery changes don’t give us an incentive to tank again.
Aside from our own picks, we have unprotected picks from NYK/DNV, and somewhat protected picks from Philly/Mavs (via a swap) coming up. All which suddenly look better if teams around the play-in have a shot to jump up in the lottery.
Like all of you I am livid at this year’s results but there are real reasons to be hopeful. Unlike some of these other teams that dropped like SAC, we can actually get free agents. And the tank is done. There’s no more incentive to have a season like this, and we stockpiled a bunch of assets right before these sorts of trades will presumably dry up because of the changes.
Anyways, here’s to some fresh cope and some hope. And who knows, Damian Lillard went 6th with serious doubts. You truly never know sometimes in this league.
