I have a 14yo GSD, and as you would expect he is starting to deteriorate pretty rapidly. We have him on some Carprofen for pain in his knees ( had both replaced ) arthritis etc. Our current vet wants us to come in and do a full blood panel to make sure he is “healthy” enough to continue the pain meds……. I’m struggling with this. He is 14. His time is limited. Shouldn’t just making sure he is comfortable be the only concern? The Blood test are like $175 and the trauma the old man endured going there I think will only stress him out…. I’m just trying to make his last few months/days here the best I can. This rigamarole seems like a bull sh*t money grab .

Is there anyway around this ?
