Grey Market Advice

I’m very close to pulling the trigger on a BNIB Patek Calatrava from a reputable grey market dealer. I’ve looked up reviews and feedback on this dealer (AIS watches) and he seems to have positive feedback.

I’ve never bought from a grey market dealer before and have always purchased from an AD. Wondering if anyone has any advice on ways to protect myself? I know that once I wire the money that’s it, and that this is one of the perils of getting a watch from a grey market dealer, but want to see if there are any protocols I should follow to try and protect myself? Like escrow service?

Any productive advice would be greatly appreciated.

I’m a lifelong Rolex guy who wants to branch out into a Patek watch. I’m in Phoenix area and there are not a ton of ADs near me so thinking about going Grey market. I was looking at the Calatrava Pilot or the Weekly Calendar. Wondering if anyone has experience with either of these two models? Any regrets or surprises? Also is there a trusted sellers list that I could use to start my search?
