2026 Cadillac LYRIQ Buyback In Progress – 4 Months in Service, High Voltage Issues, Terrible Return Condition
I’ve had a pretty rough experience with my 2026 Cadillac LYRIQ so I wanted to share it here.
The vehicle has been in the service center for about 4 months total due to repeated high-voltage system issues. Around the 3-month mark, they finally said the high-voltage problem was resolved… but then another issue appeared: the trunk suddenly would not open at all.
Another frustrating part was the communication and repair timeline. I honestly feel like the promised completion dates or callbacks were missed at least 10 times throughout this process. Every time I was told the vehicle would be ready soon, the schedule changed again.
It was also extremely difficult to get in contact with the dealership. Most of the time, I could not reach anyone in a single call and had to repeatedly follow up to get updates.
During this entire process, my loaner/rental vehicle changed around 5 times between loaner cars and rental cars, which made the situation even more exhausting.
What frustrated me even more was the condition of the car after sitting at the dealership for months. The interior was honestly in terrible shape:
- Dust everywhere
- Dirty/stained surfaces
- Even cobwebs inside the vehicle
- Overall looked like nobody had cared for it during the repair process
At that point, I completely lost confidence in the vehicle and the repair process.
Eventually, GM approved a repurchase/buyback, and the process is currently ongoing. They informed me that all lease payments made so far are expected to be refunded.
However, even after approval, the repurchase process itself is taking a long time. It looks like it may take close to another month just to finalize everything.
Just wanted to share my experience in case anyone else is going through something similar with a long-term service issue or buyback process.
