Venture X holder for 3+ years; ~$40K/month in spend; nearly 1M points earned.
Quick warning for anyone considering the Capital One Venture X card. There's a reason Venture X is the cheapest premium card on the market. What you make up for in benefits is negated by the worst customer service on this planet.
Filed a dispute a few months back. Capital One initially ruled in my favor. The merchant came back with a rebuttal and the case got reopened without anyone bothering to tell me what actually changed or what evidence I was supposed to respond to.
From there:
- 4+ hours on the phone across multiple calls
- Reps told me to return the merchandise, which is impossible as it's a contractor dispute. From C1's letter: "The merchant provided the following information to support the transaction: Delivery notification that merchandise was received via n/a Tracking n/a".
- Submitted a request to their escalations team weeks ago. Total silence. Now they can't even find that case number.
- Case was decided in my favor on 4/3, then on 4/22 I got a letter saying: "we credited your account in error for the disputed charge above. To fix this, we debited your account to offset the credit that posted in error."
- Capital One will NOT reverse their decision until they see "return tracking" because the merchant fraudulently represented this as a "delivery".
- Ended up filing a CFPB complaint because that was the only way to get anyone at this company to actually review the case.
Filing with a federal regulator shouldn't be how you get your own credit card company to actually review a dispute.
Know what you're getting into. It's a cheap card because the customer service is nonexistent.
