I have a community that I've been running for almost two years. I post almost weekly — sometimes images, sometimes videos — mostly related to books and quotes. In all this time I don't think I've had any visitors. How do I change this?
Has anyone written novels purely to build IP for games you'll make later?
Two years ago I wrote a dystopian novel called Afterlife as a pitch for a game I wanted to build. My skills weren't there yet, C++ was too much to chew, and my distaste for my own book grew with every failed attempt. Since then I've put in the work and I can finally see what I couldn't do back then.
Now I'm planning to finish six more novels I've sketched, started, or shelved over the years. Not chasing sales or a publishing deal. The goal is to build the worlds first, then eventually use them as foundation for my own games.
Anyone else tried this? Did writing the novel sharpen your plotting, worldbuilding, dialogue or something else?
