Western Australia - Big fella - Plague Locust? (Pest species)

Noticed this big fella sitting on the branch of one of our cherry blossom trees.

We usually spare most if not all insect species around here. But with one of the more notable pest species, it puts me in an ethical and ecological conundrum.

Any confirmation of species, or thoughts on this would be much appreciated.
