ATC Skill Builder App - Thoughts?
Hey r/ATC,
I’m an active air traffic controller and I created ATC Games: Voice Control mainly because my facility doesn’t get a ton of traffic and our manning has been rough — so real training opportunities can be pretty limited. I wanted something that lets controllers (and aspiring ones) practice and study on their own time in a fun way.
It’s a fully voice-controlled app with focused skill trainers:
• Vector Trainer — practice headings and speed control under pressure
• Traffic Call Trainer — calling out traffic
• Sequencing Challenges — figuring out who’s #1, #2, #3, #4 on final based on position, airspeed, and altitude
Everything is voice-controlled. No full tower sim — just repeatable, bite-sized drills that actually feel useful and addictive.
Quick notes:
• Speech recognition is currently iPhone-only and works best on iPhone 14 or newer.
• PTT Tip: Hold the Push-to-Talk button while speaking, then release when you’re done. Watch for the text at the top to stop processing.
I’d love for some of you to try it out and give honest feedback — what works well, what needs tweaking, or any features you’d like to see. I’m actively updating it based on real controller input.
