Returning to yoyo

Hey, so I’ve suddenly got the itch to get back into yoyo again after years of being away and wanted to buy a new yoyo/s now that I have adult money. I currently own the Replay Pro, YYF Shutter and Yomega Glide in my collection and wanted an upgrade hopefully. However, the yoyo world has changed and gotten so much bigger since 2017, there are so many more options nowadays. I understand from reading a few posts on this subreddit that diminishing returns exist and that it really becomes a matter of personal preference beyond this point in my collection. I just know that many of you have likely been in this situation and can probably share some wisdom. My budget for this upgrade is $250 AUD (since I live in Australia), and I was thinking of either going for 2 nice mono or 1 nice hybrid or bi-metal. I will share my experience on each yoyo so that hopefully you will have more insight into what direction I should go.

I personally hated the Replay Pro, but it was the yoyo that taught me a lot and was handy since it was my plastic beater yoyo. I personally wasn’t a fan of the rounded shape since it felt like the gap to hit strings was smaller, and the stupid caps, I want to be able to do the DNA.

The Yomega Glide had a nice H shape that I found easier to do tricks on, however, it's quite dinged up and from memory, it was a yoyo that felt a bit heavy, slow and loud. And weirdly, it had a bad spin time I’m not sure if that’s just by design or if I messed it up over time from dropping it, having been my first metal yoyo. The finish on the metal is smooth and could be quite good for finger grinds if only the spin time were better.

Finally, the OG Shutter was my favourite it felt nimble, and even though it was lighter than the Glide, it felt more stable and was still easy to hit tricks on, this is certainly an upgrade to the Glide in my opinion. I will still say I kind of prefer the shape of the glide, and the finish on the metal is a tad glossier, making it not as good for grinds. Also does not have a finger dimple for DNA.

I guess I want a yoyo that can do the DNA tricks and finger grind like crazy, and I also see that yoyos have gotten wider, and I’d like to try one of those wider ones. I also see that there are so many bi-metals and hybrids, but I don’t have any experience and would love to try one, but they are more expensive, and I guess, given my lack of experience in trying different yoyos, I can’t really decide there. I also live in Brisbane, Australia, so it’s more than likely I’m not going to be able to try any yoyos so yeah, advice would be great. Thanks for reading.
