Summer time project for me and my kid. We're interested in some arduino or ESP 32 i guess? The project we want to make is a clock with several functions. An analog stepper motor for a normal dial face on the clock. Each of the 12 numbers around the outside edge would light up depending on the hour. The inside of the clock needs a red led timer that counts down from 20 minutes every 20 minutes and when that countdown reaches zero it needs to send power to an E26 socket for 5 minutes.
I'm feeling like an arduino with several different controllers would be the best bet? Any thoughts or suggestions? I repaired laptop motherboards 20 years ago, so i have soldering and electronics experience... it's from 20 years ago though, so Any advice on which routes to go with the arduino or an ESP 32, and modules would be awesome, particularly a decent stepper motor for clock hands.
