I am starting an ANG dual status temp tech position in a few weeks and have been getting some conflicting information about FEHB and Tricare. My HRO has told me that I am eligible for FEHB and cannot continue to use Tricare once I am on boarded. But in the onboarding packet that same HRO gave me it says the following:
“Eligibility for FEB includes those technicians appointed to permanent or indefinite appointments and temporary appointments who have worked more than 12 months (12 months and one day) without a break in service of at least five days. If you become eligible for FEB whether you request coverage or not, you are no longer eligible to continue TRS.”
I read this as saying temp techs under 1 year(12months) aren’t required to switch. Just wanted to get this groups take on the issue, and any supporting references would be appreciated.
