Fronting of vowels following yod?
In my idiolect, I've noticed a feature, whereby vowels change their position (typically to be more front) before /j/ and palatalised consonants.
For example: 'нюх' [nʲʉx], 'льон' [lʲɵn], 'їжа' [ˈji̽ʒɐ], 'як' [jæ̽k].
[ʉ, ɵ, i̽, æ̽] as opposed to [ʊ, ɔ, i, ä].
My question is if this is native to Ukrainian, as I've seen this feature documented in Russian but not Ukrainian, and I can't figure out if I have this as a lingering influence of Russian as the first of my two first languages or not.
