I like to think of my aging body as a favorite old car, one I've had many pleasant experiences in. It doesn't look nearly as good as it did when it was new. The paint is faded, and it has too many dents to try to repair. Some internal parts are wearing out that it would be difficult or impossible to fix or replace.

Sometimes it's hard to get it started in the morning, and when I do, it creaks.

But despite all that, it still runs! Sometimes it does quite well. I can still have fun trips in it.

I try to remember that, when I get up in the morning and a twinge sets in immediately--or when I look in the mirror and am not pleased.

Does anybody else have a tactic like this?
