I'm planting a dogwood tree in memory of my son. I've read that the top of the planter soil should be 1-3 inches above the surrounding soil so the rootball doesn't rot. I'm just concerned I might have went too high. If I have, should I just add more soil to the top of the existing surrounding soil?

Thank you!
