Bafflingly bad etiquette from one guy at Mortal Kombat 2 @AMC Time Square Friday Night
Every time I go to an AMC I experience the absolute worst moviegoer behavior ever. I'm at the opening Friday night for Mortal Kombat 2 at AMC Time Square. 10pm screening in IMAX. This group of 3 big middle aged men come in and sit in the row in front of me, one of them saying stuff that implies this is their first time back in the theater since 2020. I notice they all got the largest sized drinks but we're carrying them without lids. For some reason that immediately makes me think "oh these guys are gonna be weird". And holy shit one of them was the absolute worst.
So like of course one of them starts talking at full volume through the entire movie, and repeating lines as they get said. The guy sitting behind me wound up screaming "YO SHUT THE FUCK UP" after like 30 minutes, which didn't seem to actually do anything but he did get slightly quieter and stop having full conversations. But the BIG thing was that everytime a fight scene happened, this dude starting taking videos on his phone, but of course his flash was set to auto, so his flash would turn on and shine on all the people in front of him. Eventually the guy in front of him also turned around and told him to turn his flash off. The guy seemed to be like "oh my bad" about it, but he still never turned it off, and instead just started putting his hand in front of the LED lights, which bounced it back and made it everyone else's problem instead. Dude also answered his phone twice during the movie, which I think at that point people were just too exhausted to try and reason with this guy. Dude truly seemed ignorant af. Of course, when the lights came back on, they all left their trash on the seat.
I'm constantly baffled at how people can act this way. Especially the dude not knowing how to turn his flash off?? It reminds me how years ago phones used to make their LEDs strobe when a text came in, and if you went to certain types of movies, the theater would basically turn into a rave because everybody would put their phones in the cupholders without silencing them, and the LEDs would be going off all over the place every 5 seconds. I absolutely LOVE the theater going experience, these people are constantly finding new and creative ways to make it miserable for everyone else. Like your paying over $30 for an IMAX ticket and this is how you act??
Anyone else at that screening?
