Hi all,

First, apologies if this is not the correct subreddit, but I couldn't see any where else to ask.

Someone asked me a while ago to write a (very) short script. It went nowhere, and was a bit avante garde, and the dialogue was terrible, and I've always wanted to try and rewrite it in verse. However, I know very little about English meter and it's uses, except that iambic pentameter tends to be the 'default' or 'conversational' rhythm.

So I wanted to ask if anyone knew an article or similar that gives an outline and examples of how different types of meter are used. For example, what meter would be used for romantic discourse, or violent action etc.?
