Anyone else gag when eating?

Sometimes while eating, I start to feel nauseous and then gag.

Like, I was just eating a sandwich, all was fine, then one bite and I felt like I was going to get sick and I gagged for like 30 seconds and then was fine.

Please note - not seeking any kind of advice - just curious if anyone else has had this happen?

Thank you in advance!

Hi all,

I’m curious if this is an EDS thing - I’m diagnosed hEDS, dysautonomia, and MCAS.

Sometimes when eating, out of nowhere, I get nauseous and start gagging - I have actually gotten sick before too (sorry, I know it’s gross) - but normally just a lot of gagging and feel like I’ll be sick for maybe 30-60 seconds and then I’m ok.

I have reflux but not any other gut issues I’m aware of and this feels different than my reflux symptoms.

I don’t have any food allergies but it just happened with a turkey sandwich, and I know it’s happened with pretzels or crackers before.

I’ve talked to multiple doctors and just gotten a “huh, that’s interesting” type of response and I’m just curious if this is a random EDS thing.

Thanks for any insight you can provide!
