Follow up to Davinci Exports being Oversaturated Upon Export

By some miracle I have accidentally figured out what was causing my problem. I went into my Mac’s display settings and there’s a toggle to “automatically adjust the display to show high dynamic range content”. When I turned this off, the problem immediately went away and the davinci preview looks identical to the quicktime player.

My question is, is having this setting off going to be a problem for people that view my content after it gets uploaded to YouTube or instagram? Because I’m assuming people will be viewing it on phones or computers that don’t have this toggle turned off…

Thank you for any advice!!

Davinci Export Oversaturated When Viewed in Quicktime/Youtube/Instagram

Hello everyone! I seem to be having a Mac issue different than the regular gamma shift stuff, which as I understand has been sorted out with the Rec709 (scene) recent update in 20.2 or whatever it was.

Anyways, basically I do my grade in a color managed workflow and export as Rec709 (scene), and when I play back my video in Quicktime, the colors are oversaturated. The video is tagged 1-1-1, yet it seems to play back very oversaturated in QT, Youtube, and Instagram. When I import the exported clip into Resolve, it looks correct.

The weird part that I just noticed as I went to make this post, is I noticed that when I took a screenshot of Davinci preview vs Quicktime, the color differences disappeared! If you look at the picture with the four frames, the left two are actually a screenshot of Davinci on top and QuickTime on the bottom. They look identical! That's why I had to take a picture with my phone, to show what you see on the right, which is the same thing...Davinci on top, Quicktime on the bottom. It's literally the same thing as on the left except it's a photo and not a screenshot. As you can see, the bottom QuickTime image is much more saturated than the rest.

Let me know what you think I could do to fix it. Any help is greatly appreciated!!
