Hey everyone,
My wife and I are looking to meet some new people and hopefully build a long-term D&D (5E 2014) group here in the area (we’re currently located in Albany).
I’ve been DMing for years now and absolutely love the hobby. I even ran a small YouTube channel (youtube @AboveTheTableGames) where I talk about D&D, and storytelling (haven’t uploaded in a while, but there’s enough there to get a feel for my style/vibe if you’re curious).
Our current group is mostly close friends/family, and while we love them dearly, life has gotten busy and we only seem to get together once or twice a month these days. We’d really love to build a more consistent weekly table and meet some cool new people along the way. Bonus points if you’re also a DM or interested in trying it someday—I don’t mind taking a break to play now and then—but I genuinely love being the group’s full-time DM.
I also would love to explore some other systems down the road. We often do holiday based one shots or little one offs between campaigns when people are unable to make it for a game.
I’m not recruiting for a specific campaign right now—I’d rather find the right people first and build something awesome together. I’m open to running homebrew worlds or official modules. I love just about every part of the game: roleplay, combat, exploration, mystery, big cinematic moments, dumb table jokes, and those unexpected moments where everyone gets weirdly invested in something small that becomes unforgettable. I like keeping the game fun and moving, but I also really enjoy slowing down for those quieter moments between characters and NPCs where relationships, choices, and emotional beats really start to matter.
At the table, we use a mixture of theater of the mind, battle mats, and miniatures I used to utilize a TV but technical difficulties. I’ve found too frequently makes that take away from the fun may explore more in the future. I’m also currently in the process of making more terrain.
And when I say I enjoy roleplay, I don’t mean you need to do voices or be a trained actor. I’m just looking for people who enjoy exploring their character, engaging with the stories of others, and leaning into those little moments and connections that make tabletop games feel special.
We are an LGBTQ+ affirming household (we’re part of the community ourselves), and we’re looking for kind, dependable, communicative people who want to roll dice, tell great stories, and hopefully make some genuine friendships both at and away from the table.
Currently looking for 2-4 more players
New players are absolutely welcome, Other couples, really anybody mostly looking for those closer to our age we’re currently in our early 30s (so like mid 20’s+). Also, we are avid D20 & CR fans.
