If there was no conceivable way for you to visit a microcenter, what deals would you be looking at?

Let’s say you had to buy online or Costco, Walmart, BB, etc. Where would you be looking?

Pretty much a hypothetical, but I’m also wanting to know for myself before making the trek to a Microcenter next weekend. In my specific case I’m looking at either the G730 or G760, if I go down there and either are open box that’s my answer. Otherwise, I may just end up splurging for the G730.

Just curious if there’s any online retailers who are even somewhat competitive with MC.

Hello r/prebuilts

I was hoping someone could help me make a decision I’m split on.

I would like to preface by saying I can build a PC and I know enough about PCs to get me by but gaming components is entirely new to me, and I really don’t have the time/mindspace to devote to coming up with my own build. I just want something I can casually game on and not have to worry about specs if I decide to play a more demanding game.

A local guy (seems like a good guy) helps people with custom builds. I told him I was looking at a G730 open-box for ~$1700 (2 hour drive to microcenter) and he asked what I would be using it for and what I hope to accomplish with a new PC.

I told him:

-Fortnite (Casual)

-ARC Raiders

-option for streaming, maybe light video editing

-future proofing with the ability to upgrade piecemeal into the future.

He recommended that $1700 may be more than I need to spend with what I want to accomplish and recommended this build:

AMD Ryzen 7 7700

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Ti

32GB DDR5

B650 board

1TB NVMe

~$1300–1450

He did specify he would build it with liquid cooling, I pick the case, and he would overclock the CPU and tune all the settings. He also said that as far as prebuilts go the microcenter one is probably the best option he wasn’t necessarily trying to steer me away from it. I texted back and forth with him for a while and he was eager to educate me and help me out. One thing he mentioned was that the G730 could be more computer than I need and the extra $ could be spent on decent components (KBM, Monitor, etc).

What he’s recommending makes sense to me, what do you guys think? Also, I understand he’s making money on building it for me, I don’t have a problem with that at all. I just want something that I can run any games that might catch my eye in the near future.

Thanks all.
