Hi all,
Putting in some apple trees in my yard. I know there is some difference of opinion on how close the trees should be for cross pollination purposes (for example, Stark Bros says within 100 feet, Fast Growing Trees says within 50 feet etc).
The two trees in question will be Grimes Golden and Hunt Russet. My ideal sites are 74 feet apart. In between the sites are a flowering pear and a peach tree.
My questions for folks is:
Are these sites too far apart?
If so, will the presence of these other trees encourage pollinators to stay in the area and visit my apple trees more frequently?
